Neuropathology covers all aspects of diagnostics, with the main focus on the examination and evaluation of biopsy samples taken from the central and peripheral nervous system (brain, spinal marrow, skeletal muscles, and peripheral muscles). Its close location to the other neurological departments provides for tight cooperation as well as fast and ideal evaluation processes. The methodical range comprises histopathological examination, special stains and immunohistochemistry, electron microscopy and molecular neuropathology. Furthermore, scientific research is a key focus of the department, with special emphasis on neurodegeneration, tumour research, and neuroimmunology.
