MRI of the whole body
![]() |
Until recently, imaging the whole body by MRI has been a technically impossible task. Only the acquisition of selected regions of interest in a “layer-by-layer” approach was possible. Today, at the Division of Diagnostic Radiology, whole-body-imaging by MRI has become possible due to state-of-the-art scanner and protocol technique. Such is performed only in a small number of hospitals with the appropriate equipment and research staff. This examination is especially important for the identification of changes of the lymphatic system (especially lymph nodes and lymphoma), in the case of skeletal system diseases caused by inflammation, tumor or trauma, and for the early detection of tumors in cervical and thoractic parts of the spinal cord, extremities and organs. |
