The Division of General and Visceral Surgery is also famous for its unit of organ transplantation. Here we perform a large number of kidney and pancreas transplantations. Our surgeons are specialized in the transplantation of kidneys from living donors.

Paediatric surgery is another area of proficiency in our department. The operative spectrum includes all congenital as well as acquired surgical diseases in newborn and infants.

The so-called “second–opinion” is another important service in our department. The patient can send all of his medical records to the Office for International Medical Services (IMS) and will receive a paid consultation and advice on the best therapeutic possibilities by one of the Professors of our Department. Here the patient can then decide whether he wants to get his therapy in Freiburg.
