New Vasculitis Center at Medical Center - University of Freiburg

New Vasculitis Center at Medical Center - University of Freiburg / Nationwide one of the largest interdisciplinary specialist centers for inflammatory rheumatic vascular diseases / Twelve medical disciplines involved.

Vasculitides are inflammatory rheumatic vascular diseases that often lead to serious organ damage. Because initial complaints such as headache or fatigue are often unspecific, diagnosis and the start of treatment are sometimes so delayed as to be life-threatening. The Vasculitis Center Freiburg, founded in 2016 at the Medical Center - University of Freiburg, enables a swift diagnosis and start of treatment through the close cooperation of a total of twelve medical disciplines. It is one of the largest facilities of its kind in the whole of Germany. The center offers excellent conditions for long-term individual care of patients with chronic vasculitis. Extensive clinical and experimental vasculitis research and a special outpatient department for clinical trials, ensure that affected patients are treated optimally using the latest innovative therapies. Particularly complex treatment situations are regularly discussed in an interdisciplinary conference, which is also open to external specialists in order to discuss their own patients.

Internal medicine physicians, highly specialized in the areas of rheumatology and clinical immunology, nephrology, pneumology and cardiology, work together with experts in neurology, ophthalmology, dermatology, neuroradiology, radiology and pathology in the Vasculitis Center Freiburg.
