New medical director in radiology at the Medical Center - University of Freiburg
Prof. Dr. Fabian Bamberg took over as medical director from Prof. Dr. Mathias Langer. Prof. Bamberg was most recently the deputy medical director of Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology at the University Hospital Tübingen.
He completed his medical studies in Hannover, Witten-Herdecke and Harvard, and worked at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston and the University Hospital Munich. In his research, the radiologist focuses on the efficient use of modern imaging techniques in diagnostics and their influence on further treatment. "The impressive development in recent years in the field of section image technologies enables us to detect diseases and pathological processes very early and precisely," says Prof. Bamberg.
He is also responsible for imaging in large epidemiological studies looking at common diseases such as diabetes, dementia and heart disease. "Using state-of-the-art magnetic resonance imaging, we can characterize the development of these pathological processes in great detail and, in the future, identify individual risk factors," explains Prof. Bamberg.
