Treatment of sarcomas in Germany

Sarcomas are malignant formations that develop from poorly differentiated cells of connective tissue. Sarcoma differs from cancer as it is formed not from epithelial cells of separate organs, but from immature cells of connective tissue and, thus, it is not attached to any particular organ.

In comparison with other malignant diseases, these tumors grow quite rapidly. This is primarily true for tumors occurring in childhood and adolescence, which is explained by the more rapid growth of connective tissue in this period of life.

The main approach to diagnosis and treatment of sarcomas in Germany is multidisciplinary, which means that patients are immediately observed by several specialists who interact intensively, while choosing a treatment strategy and evaluating its results. This approach significantly increases effectiveness of the therapy applied.
