Maternal and Fetal Medicine

The Maternal-Fetal Medicine Section of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department consists of four consultant specialists, seven residents and fifteen certified midwives. As a perinatal Center of the highest national level (level III), we offer care for our women by evaluating, diagnosing and monitoring high risk pregnancy conditions, e.g. high blood pressure, gestational diabetes, fetal abnormalities, and early onset of delivery. We strive to make any high-risk situation as little stressful as possible for our patients, the baby and their family. Our consultants have certified advanced knowledge of the obstetrical, medical, genetic and surgical complications of pregnancy and delivery. We offer antepartum testing, genetic testing if indicated, and ultrasound guided procedures. The range of services is immense – from ‘delivery in water’ to ‘c-section’. Caring nurses will do everything to make this important moment memorable for the mother and child. Alternative methods such as homeopathy and acupuncture may be used at the maternity patients’ request. Our research focus is on non-invasive detected of a beginning intrauterine infection after premature rupture of the membranes. We also participate in large randomized trials in obstetrical care.
