Gynecology & Obstetrics
The Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics at the Medical Center – University of Freiburg ranks among the top three specialized centers in Germany and provides women with comprehensive medical care in accordance with international standards.
A key focus of the department is gynecologic oncology. Advanced surgical techniques enable the radical removal of tumors of the uterus, ovaries, and breast while preserving patients’ quality of life to the greatest possible extent.
The Medical Center – University of Freiburg was the first institution in Germany to introduce the da Vinci Robotic Surgical System for hysterectomy, removal of uterine fibroids, treatment of endometriosis, and management of various gynecologic tumors. The use of this technology significantly enhances surgical precision, minimizes operative trauma, and improves the likelihood of full recovery.
In addition, our department specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of gynecologic disorders, the identification and management of infertility, the application of assisted reproductive technologies, comprehensive pregnancy and childbirth care, and the performance of obstetric procedures. Further areas of expertise include the treatment of infectious diseases, urinary disorders, and genetic testing.
