Treatment of Erectile Dysfunction
Erectile dysfunction (ED), also known as impotence, is a condition characterized by the inability to achieve or maintain an erection sufficient for satisfactory sexual intercourse. It can occur at any age and may result from both physiological and psychological causes, including:
- Vascular disorders (e.g. atherosclerosis)
- Neurological conditions (e.g. neuropathies)
- Hormonal disorders (e.g. hypogonadism)
- Psychological factors such as stress, anxiety, or depression
Diagnostic Methods
We offer comprehensive diagnostics aimed at identifying all potential causes of erectile dysfunction:
- Detailed medical history and physical examination
- Hormonal testing (testosterone, LH, FSH) to assess endocrine status
- Penile Doppler ultrasound to evaluate blood flow
- Neurological and psychological assessment, if indicated
Treatment Options
We provide a broad range of modern, evidence-based treatment options, individually tailored to each patient.
Pharmacological Treatment
- PDE-5 inhibitors (phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors, e.g. sildenafil, tadalafil)
- Hormone replacement therapy in cases of testosterone deficiency
- Intracavernosal injections – medication administered directly into the corpus cavernosum
Minimally Invasive Approaches
- Self-injection therapy prior to sexual activity
- Vacuum erection devices – mechanical induction of erection
Surgical Treatment
- Penile implants (phalloprostheses) – indicated when conservative and minimally invasive treatments are ineffective
Prevention and Follow-Up Care
We support patients not only during treatment but throughout all stages of recovery:
- Regular follow-up examinations to assess outcomes and adjust therapy
- Lifestyle counseling, including nutrition, physical activity, and risk factor modification
- Psychological support to help manage emotional distress and reduce anxiety
