Online consultation

What is an online consultation?

Online consultation – is a live consultation with our senior medical specialists in various disciplines via video conference.

You and your local physician can discuss your treatment options and diagnostics strategy with our medical specialists. An interpreter is available during the whole online consultation.

This service includes:

  • Thorough examination of the patient’s medical documents and of the request form (please note, in some cases extra evaluation of the radilological images is necessary)
  • Live online consultation with a senior medical specialist
  • Interpreter services during the teleconsultation
  • a short written summary of the consultation in German

Online consultation fees

  • 20 min. - 450 €
  • 40 min. - 650 €
  • 60 min. - 900 €

In some cases extra evaluation of the radilological images is necessary, which must be payed extra.

Rules and service description

  1. Fill out the request form.
  2. Within one or two working days you will receive an answer with further instructions for your specific case.
  3. Send us your current medical reports. Upload your radiological images (if available) into the the hospital's system. We will send you the correspondent link for this. Our specialists work with document in English or German. You can order translation of your medical reports by yourself or from one of the translatiors cooperating with us (ca. 40€/page).
  4. Upon receipt of the payment we will send your medical documentation to one of our medical specialists and choose the consultaion date. It usually takes around 5-10 days to organize an online consultation after receiving your request and medical documents.
  5. Your online consultation will take place by means of a special program which can be installed directly on your computer over a link sent by our Second Opinion team. You don't need to register to use this program and it can be easily opened on any device with an internet connection (a computer, a tablet or a smartphone).
  6. A connection test can be carried out at any time.
  7. At the appointed time you can join the virtual "consulting room" over the invitation-link. Our medical specialist will be waiting for you in the "room" together with the interpreter.
  8. After the consultation our medical specialist compiles a short summary in German.

Frequently asked questions

What technical equipment is needed?

To ensure effective videoconferencing a computer, a tablet or a smartphone with a camera is enough. We recommend internet speed of at least 700 Kbit/sec. The conference program can be used with any operation system.

Can I get a prescription from my online consultation doctor?

According to the German law your doctor can give recommendations concerning your treatment plan during the online consultation, but is not allowed to give prescriptions. This is only possible, if you visit the hospital personally.

Who can be present during my online consultation?

Your doctor, friends or family members can be present during your online consultation. Please enter their names when filling in your online inquiry form. Participants can connect from different places and devices.

Do I need an interpreter, if I am an English speaker?

You can talk to your doctor in English, without an interpreter. However the interpreter service is already included into the price of your online consultation.

Is an online consultation possible for any diagnosis?

For some diagnosis we only offer written second opinion.

Do your cooperate with insurance companies?

No. All issues must be resolved by the patients themselves directly with their insurance company.

Can I ask the doctor further questions after the online consultation has finished?

Any additional questions to the doctor as well as evaluation of your medical reports which has been sent after the online consultation are treated as a separate case and must thus be payed separately.
