The departments of General and Stereotaxic Neurosurgery, Neurology, Neuroradiology, and Neuropathology are all united in one building complex. Further subspecialties are the Center for Presurgical Epilepsy Evaluation and the Interdisciplinary Pain Center. The Neurocenter is supported by numerous neuroscientific workgroups that ensure a closer cooperation between basic research and the Medical Center - University of Freiburg.
Here at the Neurocenter we offer extensive experience in the thrombolysis in acute stroke, novel immunomodulation inflammatory diseases (e.g. MS) and research-based rehabilitations, as well as in the fields of targeted biopsy, the application of radiosurgical procedures, and deep brain stimulation.
In the Epilepsy Center, differential diagnosis in unclear epilepsy syndromes, presurgical evaluation and the complete spectrum of treatments (medical, surgical, and brain stimulation) are offered.
A new focus area has been developed by introducing neurobiological restorative procedures with cell and tissue transplantation.
There are special divisions for the treatment of brain tumors, cranial base diseases, cerebrovascular diseases, movement disorders, neuroinflammation and muscle diseases, also neuropsychological clinics for pain syndrome as well as for epilepsy.
