Welcome to the Department of General and Visceral Surgery at the Medical Center - University of Freiburg.
Our department is dedicated to providing exceptional care for patients with a variety of conditions affecting the abdominal organs and endocrine glands. Our team, comprised of 52 skilled surgeons and 150 experienced nurses, along with our administrative staff, is committed to ensuring the highest standard of medical care.
We specialize in the surgical treatment of cancers affecting the esophagus, stomach, liver, bile ducts, pancreas, and both the small and large intestines. Our department is renowned for its expertise in oncologic surgery, utilizing a range of highly complex therapeutic procedures. We are equipped with the latest technical facilities, allowing us to perform many operations using robotic-assisted techniques. This approach not only reduces recovery time but also minimizes the risk of complications.
We provide both in-patient and out-patient services, ensuring that all patients receive comprehensive care tailored to their specific needs. For serious post-operative cases, we offer monitoring in our highly specialized surgical intensive care unit, ensuring the best possible recovery outcomes.
