General Gynecology
The Division of General Obstetrics & Gynecology provides routine and advanced technical care for women in every stage of life at the highest level. We strive to provide evidence-based medicine with a personal touch. We provide appropriate screening tests, vaccinations, menopause treatment and expert counseling. For women with challenging women’s health problems, we provide specialty care in the areas of minimally invasive surgery, including 3-dimensional laparoscopic surgery, laser therapy, treatment of chronic pelvic pain, vulvar dermatologic and gynecologic infectious disease care, surgical and conservative management of uterine fibroids and endometriosis, contraceptive management, benign ovarian tumor management, cervical conditions and adolescent gynecology.
One of the fields of expertise in our department is minimally invasive surgery. We use state-of-the-art laparoscopy equipment, including 3-dimensional laparoscopy, to perform a wide range of procedures – from the removal of uterine fibroids (myomas) or ovarian cysts to hysterectomy. The advantages of minimally invasive techniques include less postoperative pain, faster recovery, and a quicker return to daily activities.
In selected cases, we also offer vNOTES (transvaginal natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery), an innovative technique that allows certain procedures to be performed without visible abdominal scars, while maintaining the benefits of minimally invasive surgery.
Another field of expertise is laser therapy of pathological changes of the outer genital and the cervix. In contrast to operative treatment methods, laser therapy leaves no scars and does not damage the tissue or affect sensitivity.
This is especially important when performing surgery on the external orifice of the uterus of women who want to have children, surgery in sensitive regions, or when an esthetic result is important to the patient.
