Professor Dr. Stefan Fichtner-Feigl is a highly experienced specialist in visceral surgery and serves as Medical Director of the Department of General and Visceral Surgery at the Medical Center – University of Freiburg.
With an international background and extensive clinical and academic experience, he is dedicated to advancing modern surgical techniques and improving outcomes for patients with complex diseases. He also leads the Comprehensive Cancer Center Freiburg (CCCF) as Clinical Director highlighting personalized surgery as his philosophy.
Prof. Fichtner-Feigl trained and worked at leading institutions in Germany and the United States, including the University Hospitals of Würzburg and Regensburg and the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, USA. After completing his surgical training, he advanced through various academic and leadership positions, including a DFG Heisenberg Professorship, before being appointed Full Professor and Medical Director in Freiburg in 2016. His career reflects a strong combination of clinical excellence, academic leadership, and international research collaboration.
