Professor Dr. Justus Duyster

Medical Director of the Department of Oncology, Hematology, and Stem-Cell Transplantation

Professor Dr. Justus Duyster is one of Germany’s leading hematologist-oncologists and the Medical Director of one of the country’s largest cancer centers.

Professor Duyster studied medicine at the University of Freiburg. He subsequently worked at leading university hospitals in Germany and the United States, where he gained extensive clinical and research experience in oncology and hematology.

Since 2013, he has served as Medical Director of the Comprehensive Cancer Center Freiburg (CCCF), which holds the status of a Center of Excellence – the highest designation for oncology centers in Germany. Such centers integrate advanced clinical care, scientific research, and innovative treatment approaches.

Professor Duyster combines clinical practice with an active research program focused on the molecular mechanisms of cancer development and progression, resistance to chemotherapy and targeted therapies, and the development of personalized treatment strategies.

Professor Duyster also leads his own research group, the Duyster Laboratory, where innovative therapeutic strategies are being developed.

Through cutting-edge clinical and experimental research, close interdisciplinary collaboration with other departments, and the use of state-of-the-art medical technologies, Professor Duyster and his team provide innovative, highly personalized treatment approaches based on the latest advances in biomedical science.
