Early detection of breast cancer

Diagnostic Radiology

Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women. In Germany, 48,000 women are diagnosed with the disease every year with 10 % being due to hereditary factors. The risk increases from the age of 40 onwards.

We offer not only low dose digital mammography but also the most modern digital tomosynthesis – the most precise method to measure the volume, density and change in  breast tissue.

Besides mammography and ultrasound, magnetic resonance imaging of the female breast is a generally accepted method to detect or rule out breast cancer without the use of X-rays.

For magnetic resonance imaging of the breast we use comfortable MRI systems of the latest generation with a special breast examination device. During the examination, you will lie on your stomach and both breasts will be examined simultaneously.

A contrast medium will be injected into a vein of your arm to safely rule out the presence of a malignant breast tumor. Before the examination you will talk to a radiologist and after the evaluation of the results by means of various computer-assisted examination programmes you will be directly and personally informed about the findings. If any evidence of a condition requiring further treatment is found, we will contact you directly and will be glad to give you further advice.
