Prof. Dr. Jürgen Beck is an internationally renowned neurosurgeon specializing in complex brain and spinal disorders.
After studying medicine at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich and completing parts of his academic training at Harvard Medical School, he pursued his residency and academic career in Frankfurt and Bern. Since 2018, he has served as Chair and Medical Director of the Department of Neurosurgery at the Medical Center – University of Freiburg, leading one of Europe’s foremost neurosurgical centers.
Prof. Beck’s expertise encompasses CSF disorders, brain and spinal tumor surgery, cerebrovascular and skull base neurosurgery, epilepsy surgery as well as the development of advanced minimally invasive surgical techniques.
His research has significantly advanced the understanding and treatment of spontaneous intracranial hypotension (SIH), establishing Freiburg as a leading referral center in this field.
His contributions to neurosurgery have been recognized with the prestigious European Lecture Award, granted for practice-changing achievements in the specialty.
