“I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the doctors at the Medical Center - University of Freiburg. They saved my life, and thanks to them I have been able to lead an active life for the past 17 years.”
Klara Datsenko, 82 years old, Ukraine
Diagnosis: pancreatic adenocarcinoma
When Klara Datsenko first came to the Medical Center - University of Freiburg in 2007, she brought with her a file of test results and the advice of Ukrainian doctors that she should have a liver transplant. Today, she shares her memories of that time in her life:
"When I arrived in Freiburg in July 2007, my bilirubin level was over 200, and my face was the color of milk chocolate. I was very worried that a liver transplant might be the only solution.
Our friend in Switzerland recommended that I go to the Medical Center - University of Freiburg. He scanned the ratings of clinics in the field of "gastroenterology" and made an appointment for me to see Professor Blum.
After a blood test, Dr. Silke Offensperger said my liver was healthy. Professor Dr. Blum found a tumor on my pancreas and performed a bile duct stenting. Thanks to the stent, my bilirubin levels have returned to normal. Professor Dr. Ulrich Hopt performed the unique and complex surgery to remove the tumor.
I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the doctors at the Medical Center - University of Freiburg. They saved my life, and thanks to them I have been able to lead an active life for the past 17 years.
I visit the clinic from time to time, and I always receive a warm welcome and a high-quality examination.”
