Eye Center

The Eye Center at Medical Center - University of Freiburg is one of the largest ophthalmology departments in Germany. Outpatients and inpatients with all possible eye diseases are treated here. Our spectrum ranges from diseases of cornea and conjunctiva over strabismology and pediatric ophthalmology to retinal and optic nerve diseases.

As a maximum care hospital we also cover rare diseases, complex and severe, and hereditary diseases, infections and tumors.

The Eye Center at the Medical Center - University of Freiburg comprises of over 150 years of history and tradition. 5,548 patients undergo in-patient treatment on an annual basis and more than 83,244 are treated as out-patients. More than 28,139 surgical procedures are performed yearly, of which the vast majority is performed on an out-patient treatment basis. Our significant hands-on experience, excellent reputation among employees and patients and our consistent update of equipment and instrumentation are all integral parts of the success and international recognition of the Eye Center in Freiburg.
