Pediatric Surgery
The Pediatric Surgery Department at the University Medical Center Freiburg covers the entire spectrum of pediatric and adolescent surgery. This includes general, visceral, and thoracic surgery, neonatal and malformation surgery, pediatric tumor surgery, as well as pediatric urology. Additionally, our core areas of expertise include the treatment of specific hand and foot deformities (such as polydactyly), chest wall deformities (such as pectus excavatum), surgery for gastroesophageal reflux in children, and burn surgery.
Our pediatric surgery team provides comprehensive and modern care for our young patients in close interdisciplinary collaboration with the Department of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine, as well as other affiliated disciplines such as pediatric anesthesia, obstetrics, and pediatric radiology.
It is particularly important to us that our patients and their families feel comfortable and always have a personal point of contact. To ensure this, we have implemented the "primary physician" principle, which allows the same specialist in pediatric surgery to be responsible for a patient from the first consultation through surgery and postoperative care, whenever possible.
