Intermittent claudication and smoker’s leg – what is to be done?

Calcification and stenosis (narrowing) of the blood vessels (arteriosclerosis) are diseases which occur more commonly with increasing age and are facilitated by risk factors such as smoking and high blood pressure. Walking becomes increasingly difficult or even impossible. Minimally invasive therapy with catheters and stents through blood vessels has been a proven technique and can replace surgery.

High blood pressure in renal artery stenosis

Stenosis (narrowing) of the renal vessels can be a cause of high blood pressure. In such cases, gentle dilation of the vessels with a catheter can alleviate high blood pressure and thus drastically reduce the need for medicine or even make medicine completely unnecessary.
