Diagnosis: chondrosarcoma of the rib
In 2020, despite the COVID-related restrictions, after undergoing several years of treatment in his home country, Volodymyr traveled to Freiburg facing a challenging diagnosis – a recurrence of tumor on the rib with possible lung infiltration.
“From the beginning, the doctors approached my case with the utmost seriousness. I immediately underwent a pulmonary function test, and within five days, the surgery was scheduled. It was through a professor I knew in Ukraine who told me about the Medical Center - University of Freiburg. Despite the difficulties caused by the COVID pandemic, the hospital agreed to proceed with the surgery, and my case was thoroughly reviewed in a multidisciplinary oncology board.
